One of the most common applications for Spray Foam Insulation is interior wall and stud cavities. See below image of a typical wall cavity detail with spray foam insulation.
- 2lb closed cell spray foam can be applied at 2″ to achieve an R-12 Value.
- 2lb closed cell spray foam can be applied at 3″ to achieve an R-18 Value.
Commonly used more and more for exterior envelope applications to complete an efficient,weather/air barrier. Used to its full potential on masonry cladding envelope systems!
Many modern projects are using exterior spray foam insulation in conjunction with interior spray foam insulation to gain maximum performance and most effective envelope seal (using spray foam can eliminate the need for over complicated weather-proofing details, flashings and self adhered membranes).
Typically being poorly insulated, cold and damp crawl spaces and basements are an ideal candidate for Spray Foam Insulation.
Using Spray Foam on your concrete basement walls will also seal cracks and prevent water ingress due to Hydrostatic Pressure – See Basement Waterproofing.
Heat rises! Don’t let your expensive heat escape by having a thermally inefficient roof. Not only will attic spray foam insulation keep heat in your conditioned space but it will also prevent condensation on the underside of your roof (caused by hot air meeting a cold roof).
Applying 3lb Spray Foam to the exterior of your roof is the most effective way to provide a monolithic (seamless) water and vapour barrier whilst gaining the highest R-Value possible! Click on the image below for a larger view.
